2023: My Annual Self Appraisal

As the year draws to a close, it’s time once again for my annual self-appraisal, a tradition I’ve upheld since 2020 (2021, 2022) .

This post isn’t about setting or tracking rigid New Year’s resolutions. Instead, it’s about journaling a year’s journey towards becoming a better version of myself.

So, here’s a glimpse into my 2023

Professional

Expanding my capabilities: I played a significant role in launching and promoting sales through our app across all branches in India, starting from scratch. This involved extensive coordination with multiple stakeholders, marketing, training sessions, support systems, MIS, and lots of travel for multiple types of events. It was a chaotic, demanding job, but it tremendously enhanced my capabilities.

Panel Participation: I was thrilled to participate in a panel discussion titled “Being Young at Kotak.” Sharing the stage with our Whole Time Director Shanti Ekambaram was an absolute honor.

Moderating Learning Sessions: As part of our “Kotak Learning A – Fair,” I moderated several insightful talks and sessions, throughout the event.

Education

Python Certification: I completed an entry-level certification in Python programming.

Spanish Lessons: Started learning Spanish through the Duolingo course.

Fitness

Powerlifting Debut: I competed in powerlifting for the first time and quickly progressed from district to national level competitions.

Personal Records: Achieved new personal records in Squat (140kg), Bench Press (102.5kg), Dead-lift (172.5kg), and Trap Bar Deadlift (200kg) at 66kg bodyweight.

Running Achievements: Set personal records in the 5k (26:47) and 10k (57:16) runs.

Caloric PR: Burned 2000 calories in a single day through exercise.

Marathon Walking: Completed a full marathon by walking – a total of 60,000 steps.

VO2 Max Improvement: Reached a personal best VO2 Max of 58.

Personal

Chess Progress: Achieved my highest-ever rating of 1960 ELO on chess.com, placing me in the top 0.1% of the site’s global players.

Influential Reading: This year, I read several thought-changing books (which I feel is a better metric to track than “no.of books read”). These books have significantly altered my perspectives and approach to life.

As I look back on 2023, each of these experiences fills me with a sense of gratitude and inspiration.

And I’m excited to see where 2024 will take me.
